Berry Pomeroy, St Mary

1. Berry Pomeroy, St Mary's church.

2. Porch, E. side pillar. Deeply carved cross, containing limewash remnants.

3. Porch, W. side pillar. Two feint crosses.

4. Porch, W. side pillar. Probable initials EG, with other letter below.

5. Porch bench. Neatly cut square. Purpose unknown.

6. Porch bench. Probable initials, RG.

7. South doorway. Double ended arrows (probably apotropaic), and other marks.

8. Room above Porch. Inscription with 1720 date and initials.

9. S. aisle pier. Letter I (crossed) or J, with remnants of limewash, and D.

10. S. aisle pier. Deeply cut divided rectangle. Meaning unknown.

11. Chancel screen. Arrow type mark. Probably apotropaic.

12. Tower stairs. Interesting asterisk type mark with associated circle and other marks.

13. Tower stairs. C K, probable initials.

14. N. aisle pier. Elliptical feature with radiating lines.

15. Nave bench, Rowden names.
